Most Common LG Washer Error Codes

• OE: Drain error – clean the drain pump filter, check for a kinked drain hose, and make sure the drain hose is not clogged or installed too high.
• IE: Water inlet error – check that both water supply valves are fully open, clean the inlet filter screens, and inspect the hoses for bending or freezing.
• UE / uE: Unbalanced load – redistribute clothes, remove heavy single items, check that the washer is level, and run a spin cycle again.
• dE / dE1 / dE2: Door error – close the door firmly, clean around the door latch, and inspect the door lock if the washer clicks but does not start.
• LE: Motor lock error – unplug the washer for several minutes, reduce load size, and restart. If the code returns, the rotor position sensor or motor system may need service.
• FE: Overflow error – too much water detected. Turn off the water supply, unplug the washer, and check the inlet valve or pressure sensor.
• PE: Pressure sensor error – inspect the pressure hose and sensor connection. This may require professional service if the code keeps returning.
• tE: Heating or temperature sensor error – check hot water supply, thermistor, or heater circuit depending on the model.

LG Dryer Common Problems

• d80 / d90 / d95: Airflow blockage – clean the lint filter, wall duct, outside vent hood, and long vent runs. These codes usually mean the dryer airflow is restricted.
• nP / PS: Power supply issue – electric dryers require a proper 240V connection. Check the breaker, outlet, cord, and terminal block.
• tE1 / tE2 / tE3: Thermistor or temperature sensor fault – clean the lint area and vent system first; replace the sensor if the code remains.
• No heat: For electric dryers, check the double breaker and heating element. For gas dryers, check the gas valve, igniter, flame sensor, and venting.
• Long drying time: Clean the lint filter before every load, inspect the exhaust duct, avoid overloading, and confirm the correct dry cycle is selected.

LG ThinQ Smart Models

• Wi-Fi not connecting: Make sure the router supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, keep the appliance near the router during setup, and reset the ThinQ connection if pairing fails.
• Remote Start not working: Enable Remote Start from the control panel before using the app. The door must be closed and the appliance must remain powered on.
• Smart Diagnosis: Use the LG ThinQ app or the phone diagnostic tone feature to help identify errors, cycle problems, and sensor faults.

Front Load Washer Maintenance

• Musty smell: Leave the door slightly open after use, wipe the door gasket, remove detergent buildup, and run the Tub Clean cycle monthly.
• Water left in gasket: Clean the rubber seal and remove small items such as coins, hair clips, lint, and fabric debris.
• Excessive vibration: Confirm all shipping bolts were removed, level the washer, tighten the leveling feet, and avoid mixing heavy and light items in one load.

Top Load Washer Maintenance

• Washer not spinning: Check for an unbalanced load, overloaded tub, lid lock issue, or drain problem.
• Poor wash performance: Use HE detergent, avoid too much detergent, select the correct soil level, and clean the tub regularly.
• Loud noise during spin: Make sure the washer is level and check for foreign objects under the wash plate or inside the tub.

Safety note: Always unplug the washer or dryer before cleaning filters, checking hoses, or inspecting internal parts. For gas dryers, turn off the gas supply before service. Never bypass a door lock, lid switch, thermal fuse, or safety sensor.
